The old Halomods forums has been restored for read-only access: check it out!

As the description says, we've restored all the attachments so you can download all the old crap stuff that was once on "Halomods Classic" (including all 100+ bloodgulch mods, you unoriginal goofs).

Additionally, zone117x was kind enough to make some redirect scripts, so all those old halomods.com/forums/viewtopic links will be correctly redirected accordingly.

If bandwidth starts to become an issue, then the forum will be closed until the next week or month (depends) rolls around, rinse, repeat. Can't be having the past weigh us down after all.

I don't think the redirect scripts are in place. The viewtopic.php is not at http://www.halomods.com/viewtopic.php

I can't login, and the reset password script is missing. :o

(As in the link to follow after you are emailed).

Its supposed to be a read-only archive; logging in will only give you access to PMs but I don't think that serves any purpose for a public archival function.

that's not the correct url, the old forums where at "forums/<blah>", which is where the redirects are

And yeah, the forum is read-only, no new members and no posting. I thought it would be nice if existing members could still log in so they can reference any old PMs they may have.

Some fishy activity was occuring on SourceGuy's (1.0 heh) account in HMC today. Somehow his account had 'founder' status (which I'm pretty sure I removed before...) and he had one admin ability, the ability to use other's permissions (and I explicitly went thru and nixed all existing admins/mod permissions en masse...). I noticed his account was active earlier, but didn't think nothing of it. Then when I checked back again earlier, I saw him still on, which is what prompted my investigation. Somehow a googlebot (that's what the IP resolves to) was going down a specific list (all of these names had some sort of mod/admin permissions at some point) of users and trying out their permissions. There was actually about 5 pages worth of these permission transfer logs (at 50 logs per page)...not sure what the point was. Like say, fishy.

Those crazy crazy bots.

Anywho, can you make it so that a person doesn't have to sign in to download a file, I checked some of my survived-the-merger mods (*sigh*), and I didn't "have the permissions".
I logged in, and was able to download them.

For read-only, this should be fixed so all can download the files, that is of course, if you feel there should be some "grandfathered in" clause to the ol' halomods read only abilitys.

Hmmm, I thought guests could download files too. We'll see what we can do to fix this, thanks for pointing it out

Yeah, that's the only reason logging in was an issue.

Ahh I miss diagnosed. The redirect script is in place, but it is redirecting to halomods.com not old.halomods.com. You just have to change that variable in the script.

Diagnose again, because all three redirect scripts that I uploaded are redirecting to old.halomods.com (I just tested them all again, and they're still redirecting).

Hmm.. not sure then. I just went to a random thread in the archive, and clicked some old links in people's sigs and the redirect goes to the wrong url.
