for some reason it reminds me of halo2's warthog, idk why, but anyway it looks great I'm guessing the lack of detail on the model in front is due to the fact normals and textures will do most of the work? or have you just not really worked on that region yet?

looks awesome but... the bars... its a multi ton military vehicle its not going to need a external frame of any kind.

looks like your doing your own version of the bars on the "Forza Motorsports 4's" halo 4 cargo style hog(the rear end bars on Forza's halo 4's version don't look functionable though) but you have it in a frame style. E: dont get me wrong i like everything else just the bars look like an external version of how ford fixed the pinto...

people don't have the best of computers anyway the bars are a waste of hardware resources. fine with bar steps but use that detail in other parts at least.

the lack of detail is bc its a WIP its not done.

EDIT: another thing ive read that there are some modeling steps that one of the mapping tools or something don't like "fillet" i believe. just wanted to warn of those things idk if he knows or if what i read was wrong. if someone reads this that could see if he knows. so he doesn't Finnish and have to scrap it cause it looks like they where used.

This... looks pretty awesome.

Though, how is this relevant to CMT? Are you making this for them?

I have to admit, that is ridiculously awesome. I really hope this is going to be the CMT warthog. The detail so far is amazing.

My only worry is the tri and or poly count, and whether or not Halo will be able to handle it :P

I really think the bars should "come out" more, like in the Forza hog. It looks like you could use them to tie the hog down to something.

And I don't think we need to worry about the poly/tri count. This is the hi-poly version which will have a lot of the little details baked into texture and normal/bumpmap.

Plus, doesn't HaloCE have a ConVar that allows you to force a lower LOD? For those with low-end computers.

I'm not sure if Halo's LOD system can be explicitly forced to a lower value but I do remember seeing a debug command for that - though I'm again unsure if that functions outside of the editor. In any case, the LODs as they are function pretty well if they're set up correctly.

...And, honestly, if someone's computer is going to take a performance hit from the presence of small things like those bars (especially once we're talking about the low-poly counterpart for this, which is indeed for map-baking) they'll have *way* bigger problems than that playing SPV3. I can't imagine a situation outside of some strange MP variant where you'd have enough Warthogs on-screen and up-close to really dig into performance.

And yes, this is in fact being made as a generous gift to us!

That Warthog looks simply amazing, I have trouble believing that we'll be seeing this baby in Halo 1.

That model exactly won't get in game, but the High detail will be baked into textures and a normal map, giving the illusion of very high detail.

Well yeah, I already knew that of course. I'm just saying that it's the best Warthog I've seen in Halo 1 in any mods because let's be honest here, all those Halo 2 and Halo 3 Warthogs that people try to put in the game kind of look bad.

It's not ingame yet, how can you even begin to compare the two?

I'm just saying that by the looks of the model now as well as all the stuff CMT has done with OpenSauce (as well as keeping in mind all of the quality work they've done for SPv3 so far), chances are that it's going to look great. In plus, you can take a look at the pictures and imagine what it's going to look like in-game pretty easily.

Sexy Warthog is sexy. I can't wait to get my hands on it in-game many months from now.
