A couple halo 3 flashes that I made. All weapons and effects are hand drawn and animated using key frames.

Needler

Plasma Rifle

The needler is much better than the plasma rifle, however both animations are pretty choppy. Your plasma rifle doesn't have as much curvature as it should.

Do continue though, I'd like to see where this heads.

Hey bobble!

The overheat for the plasma rifle looks... goopy.

But this is really cool! Are you planning on using these in a larger project?

Its pretty cool man, you could make a full animation with spartans and stuff like ScottyGee used to, or even a side scroller flash game.

Yeah, I worked on these more than a year ago, while in my final year of Highschool. The needler I agree is the best animation of the bunch. The choppiness comes from the fact that each frame is hand animated. I didn't have enough time or patients to make them any smoother by adding more frames :P If I was to get a hold of a copy of Flash, then I would probably work more on these but until then, I just have them left over.

I hope so, I may work more on them later, and use some different techniques, specifically tweening and such to make animations smoother. The plasma rifle probably took the most time, but still is choppy :P

Oh man, I don't know about that :P, If I had the time I might consider it. The animation portion isn't to much of a problem it seems. The most difficult part as far as I can tell, is the art portion.

Thank all of you for your comments :D

PR: Learn to use opacity to make it less goopy.
Needler: Needs to show the needlers leaving as it shoots.
Both need to be resized for smaller though. that'd be nice.

PR: once again, I haven't worked on these in over a year, actually I just found them and have no way of editing them. I will use opacity if I ever get the chance to work with them again

Needler: What? The needles themselves are visible leaving the barrel of the weapon as well as the visible loading area.

As far as resizing goes, what do you mean? There is nothing to scale them too in the animations.
